Noteworthy
Medical Systems Selects HyperCereus Medical as Medical Necessity
Data Provider
CLEVELAND, Ohio-October 3,
2002- Noteworthy Medical Systems, Inc. a leading provider
of point-of-care clinical solutions for medical data management
that extends beyond electronic medical record keeping, and
HyperCereus Medical, Inc., a leading medical informatics
consulting company and source for medical necessity data
solutions, today announced a new licensing agreement, placing
HyperCereus' medical necessity content into the Noteworthy
EMR software.
Under the agreement, HyperCereus
will provide all medical necessity Medicare Part A and Part
B content for Noteworthy EMR. Powered by HyperCereus' data
sets, Noteworthy EMR will provide coding and medical necessity
compliance checks at the point-of-care, facilitating more
accurate and complete documentation improving reimbursement
levels.
Medical necessity is the criterion
Medicare and the majority of insurance companies use to
determine whether providers' services will be reimbursed.
Only tests and procedures considered "reasonable and
necessary" are reimbursed. To determine eligibility
for reimbursement, each Medicare Fiscal Intermediary and
Carrier compiles lists of diagnosis codes to identify and
support each billed service. These lists define medical
necessity and are published as Local Medical Review Policies
(LMRPs) to which each provider must adhere. The LMRPs are
in a perpetual state of change and vary widely from state
to state making it very difficult for physicians and clinics
to stay up to date.
"HyperCereus' comprehensive
and accurate medical necessity coding data will enhance
Noteworthy EMR's already powerful compliance feature,"
said Noteworthy President and CEO Lawrence Dolin. "We
are pleased with this new agreement and are eager to deliver
this integrated solution to our clients around the country."
"We are delighted that
our medical necessity data solutions will enhance Noteworthy's
award winning EMR," says Fabio Almeida M.D., President
of HyperCereus Medical, Inc. "The lack of access to
medical necessity data at the point-of-care results in coding
and reimbursement errors costing U.S. physicians and hospitals
billions of dollars each year. Providing our medical necessity
data solutions as part of the documentation process at the
point-of-care reduces these errors and significantly improves
reimbursement for healthcare facilities and providers."
