HyperCereus Medical as Medical Necessity Data Provider
Tucson, Arizona—June 18, 2002
/Xpress Press/—HyperCereus Medical, Inc., a leading medical
informatics consulting company and source for medical necessity
data solutions, today announced a new licensing agreement with
SpectraSoft Inc., leaders in the patient scheduling and appointment
management software industry -- placing HyperCereus' medical
necessity content into SpetraSoft's AppointmentPro line of software.
Under the agreement, HyperCereus
will provide all Medical Necessity Medicare Part A and Part
B content for AppointmentsPro, a high-performance patient
scheduling and appointment management software tool available
for healthcare facilities of all sizes. Powered by HyperCereus'
data sets, AppointmentsPro will provide coding and medical
necessity compliance checks at the point of procedure or service
scheduling.
Medical Necessity is the criterion
Medicare and the majority of insurance companies use to determine
whether providers' services will be reimbursed. Only tests
and procedures considered "reasonable and necessary" are reimbursed.
To determine eligibility for reimbursement, each Medicare
Fiscal Intermediary and Carrier compiles lists of diagnosis
codes to identify and support each billed service. These lists
define medical necessity and are published as Local Medical
Review Policies (LMPRs) to which each provider must adhere.
The LMRPs are in a perpetual state of change and vary widely
from state to state making it very difficult for physicians
and clinics to stay up to date.
